A brilliant New Orleans local (though originally a Montgomery gal) has recently caught my attention and imagination. Sarah Ashley Longshore is, in short, a painter, furniture designer, and performance artist whose "pop expressionist" edge makes me just stop and smile. Her oil paintings are bright and unexpected, and I absolutely adore her beautifully whimsical chairs- they are one of a kind jaw droppers. Starers and double-takers are welcome to take their time gazing!
Using chairs as her blank canvas, Longshore has created a dreamworld of fanciful furniture that keeps you on the edge of your seat (hah). Her chairs are incredibly eclectic as far as subject matter and mediums... my favorites among her collection are the traditional fauteuil chairs- they have the air of Dunst's Marie Antoinette Versailles and whimsical humor of Depp's Wonderland.

Too funny! If only my childhood time outs could have been spent in a throne like this!

Oh my GOSH! SO thrilled to see what she has been up to lately! I bought a few of her pieces from Perch a few years ago, and one custom work she came to Austin and dropped off personally! LOVE her and LOVE her new work!

I love her stuff and meant to feature her on my site, but your post is great! Really original stuff.
I like these chairs so much better than one Anthropolgie had her do. They should have let her do her fabulous thing.

WOW - these are insane (in an absolutely wonderful way). Audrey Hepburn on my chair backs? You bet! What a fun find. Thanks for the intro!
