While the rest of the word turns their eyes to fall collections, Floridians look to a different runway - resort. When, for our northern friends, winter blows in with snow, sleet, and below zero temperatures, Floridians are faced with the task of dressing seasonally appropriate in a winter where 50 degrees is an abnormally cold day, and even the most brutal seasons are heavily peppered with days of 80 degree sunshine.
Resort is the unsung hero of the fashion world - these collections are by far my favorite of the year. They bring color, print, light coats and lovely cuts in a season otherwise filled with black - perfect for not just the "snowbirds", as natives like to call northerners flying South for winter, but the women who call Florida home.

You make a great point! Atlanta still gets cold enough to warrant Fall/Winter clothes, but the resort collection is perfect for Floridians! I admit I've not indulged in much resortwear in the past but I feel the need...
