Carolina Irving & Lonny

So after a week or so of digesting, I'm ready to jump on the bandwagon and weigh in on Lonny. In case you have been living under a rock, Lonny was dreamed up by Rubie Green founder /former Domino staffer Michelle Adams and rockstar photographer Patrick Cline. Rubie Green being one of my favorite sponsors here at The Love List and Michelle's always kind, humble, and engaging emails since first striking up a conversation with her over a year ago makes me even more inclined to gush about just how great Lonny is.

Looking at all the great pictures my first inclination was to think how exhausted Michelle and Patrick must be. Michelle is just a few years older than me and look at all she has accomplished! Let me tell you, her energy is infectious too - she inspires me to work even harder. I have a note she wrote me pinned to my inspiration board that reminds me to keep my entrepreneurial spirit in high gear.

To those of you who have missed Domino, of course Lonny is lauded for filling its hole in all our hearts, but I think it doesn't give the publication full credit to think of it only as "Domino Jr." , because it has truly carved out a new niche as the first of its kind (ingenious idea to make spotlighted products clickable, by the way) - if you haven't "flipped" through it yet, I sincerely encourage you to check it out at lonnymag.com.

Following up on my prior post on Carolina Irving's clothing venture with Lisa Fine, Irving & Fine, Lonny's premiere issue spotlights Irving's cozy, tactile home, easily my favorite feature in the mag. Something about this home just draws you in - I love the "perfect imperfection" of it. You can tell it is an artist's home and it doesn't look like it was overly done up to look staged for a magazine shoot, which I love.

This home, to me, is all about the details - a true eyeful. Irving decorates with lots of layers and prints (naturally) but I love all the smaller pieces of these photos - the hobnail pitcher, the tortoise shell ice bucket, the blue and white pottery, the piles of books, (the Pimm's! ha!) and of course - the art! What a collection!

Irving works lots of personal details into her home - I feel like this place looks like this every day, not just when a photographer is invited in to shoot it. The silhouettes above her bed are of her daughters, many of the textiles her own design, and her occupation and interests are woven throughout the place in such a natural, unaffected way that makes me feel like this woman knows exactly who she is.

[All photos were taken by Patrick Cline for Lonny Magazine, October 2009, with the exception of the portrait of Michelle Adams, which was taken for Real Living magazine.]

Ha! The Pimm's is what I noticed first :) Love the house, and I think that doggie needs to come and live with me!

I really enjoyed Lonny's first issue though have to admit it will take me some time to get use to not being able to literally "flip" through the pages! As for the rooms, I would LOVE to sneak in and peruse all the books on those shelves with a glass of Pimms too ; )

I indeed must have been living under a rock cuz this is the first I've heard of them! I miss Domino terribly and have just added Barnes and Noble to my todo list for the day. Thank you! It's not just an online mag, right??? XXOO
