Working Class Studio: Savannah, GA

SCAD, Savannah, Georgia's notable Art & Design school boasts an Etsy-like handmade mega store chock full of student and faculty-made goods. One of my favorite shopscad.com discoveries is Working Class Studio - a SCAD offshoot that manufactures a chic little line of home items designed by emerging artists of the college.

I have been to Savannah a few times, most notably for my 21st birthday - my first (legal) beer was green! More than the old-guard feeling you get from somewhere like Charleston, I got a rich creative vibe from Savannah. There's a huge independent movement, and Working Class Studio epitomizes it.

The line ranges from coasters, plates, and tumblers to unique frames and throw pillows. All extremely reasonably priced, at that. I love the idea of so many people - interns, professors, students alike - putting their heads together to produce a unique line that I think has a certain cohesiveness to it.

Visit shopscad.com for all kinds of other finds from Southern artisans. Jewelry, art, and stationery can also be found in addition to a slew of other quirky finds - even clothing! Enjoy browsing, and have a fabulous Tuesday!

Thanks so much for this post! WCS has been doing wonderful things for years! I designed the "wood" and "fern" outdoor pillows in the top photo, glad to know that you enjoy the designs as much as I enjoyed making them!
