Who doesn't love a Boston Terrier? Those faces! Those expressions! Artist Brian Rubenacker has personified the pup (and other breeds) into plane-flying, card-dealing, suit-wearing characters fashioned after his own dog (and muse) Lacey. "I had always wanted a Boston Terrier from my childhood," says Rubenacker "and when I got Lacey I was hooked."
Though its always interesting to see where inspiration comes from, Rubenacker didn't set out to do this "I started by just doing some paintings for my wife." He says "Everyone liked them so much I just started trying to sell them online. Things just sort of took off from there." After a mention in Domino magazine a few years back, Rubenacker's expressive terriers became Etsy staples, and his business has only grown.
I have his chihuahua print hanging in my dining room (can you see it below? far left) and it always draws comments from dinner guests who giggle at the juxtaposition of Rubenacker's fine art approach to a humorous subject. When I get my own dog, you can be sure I'll commision a Rubenacker rendering.

Awww, too precious! My sister and my mom have BT's (those little snarfly faces!) and I have two little chihuahuas. I always love seeing artists that gain popularity through Etsy, too. Perhaps it's time for a Rubenacker rendering for myself...
I'm a Rubenacker fan and own one of his "Boston Terror" prints. Have a couple of his other works on my Etsy favorites too. My Bostons also approve of his style. ;o)
I love Boston Terriers!! These prints are so cute!
