Needlepoint Belts: A Charming Heirloom

Hello all! After a long and much-needed hiatus I'm back. Design is still the focus, but I feel like there are so many design blogs out there that The Love List was getting lost in the hubub. Since some of the oldest writing wisdom out there is to write what you know, my design focus is going to shift more to the upscale South. Hope y'all don't mind a little evolution :)

There is something about menswear that has always interested me. Granted, I'm not one for the menswear for women trend, I think women should dress like women, but there is just something about a well-dressed man.

I think it is a hard line to walk when you're a guy, to be put together without looking light on your feet, and men who can do that will always attract my attention.

Lately I have been reading The Trad, a blog I found one day when I was googling needlepoint belts. My interest in the belts was piqued when I saw a guy wearing one with every SEC school's emblem on it. I imagine it is custom, though you can find beautiful ones from my friends at Tucker Blair.

It's unabashedly preppy, and though I have seen a few guys around town wearing them, only one comes to mind who actually pulled the belt off. Probably because he is one of those ridiculously rugged guys who couldn't look fruity if he tried. I remember his belt looked like it had years of wear on it. Everything else he had on wasn't too "done", he was a little messy, his hair was overgrown, and for some reason that belt just worked on him.

I like the idea of a man having a belt that he gets something new stitched on to signify events, hobbies, etc. throughout his lifetime. It is a great heirloom and unbelievably sentimental.

As a celebration of The Love List's return, and as a gift to you, or your significant other, Tucker Blair and The Love List are giving away a needlepoint belt and headband of your choice. They have a great selection of decidedly preppy needlepoint classics. You can enter by leaving a comment with your email address.

Hooray! My favorite rebellious debutante is back! Jessica, I've followed your blogging perfection since its inception back in your college days. I, for one, could not be more thrilled to hear that you will be narrowing your focus to "the Upscale South" ... which by the way, could absolutely include your youthful and genteel perspective on design. Here's my email in case you want me to send more sincere flattery your way:

Cheers!
