Blogger's Home Tour: Kristen Grove Ebays (and Craigslists, and Etsys...) Her World

Simply Grove is a newer design blog from Idaho-based interior designer Kristen Grove. Her home is a mix of finds from Ebay, art from Etsy, and doctored pieces found on Craigslist mixed with pieces from mass-market retailers like Target and Ikea - design on a budget for sure, and done extremely well. Her influences vary greatly, from European design to cities like Paris and New York, and even though she loves sourcing items from auctions and classifieds, she also loves Graham and Green, Anthropologie, and nearby Boise shop Latta. Enjoy this down-to-earth tour of her approachably stylish home.

"I just finished this room this last month. Even though we dont use it much I LOVE our formal dining room. The mix of pieces and textiles is my favorite thing about this room. It was my lounge but I never had it the way I wanted it. My husband wallpapered the far wall which immediately gave the room drama. The 2 chairs against the wall are consignment and the table against the wall was $30 at a chain store. Everything else I have collected over this last year." Ed. note: I spy prints by Anne Harwell!

"This is my living room where we spend the most time together. (It is attached to our kitchen and eating area.) The pieces in this room are quite a collaboration of thrift stores, chain stores and designer pieces. The coffee table is a Craigs List find that I just did a simple repaint to. The collection of pillows on the couch are mostly from Ikea and ebay. I love keeping this room neutral so I can change the pillows and rugs frequently." Ed. note: I love the Ghost chair's transparent blockade to the fireplace.

"This is my favorite corner of my house. I found this chair at a parking lot sale of a furniture store and quickly painted it turquoise. I bought the frame at a thrift store and the LOVE poster is Made By Girl. I find myself sitting in this chair in the mornings drinking my chai."

"My kids love their playroom. It feels like a cozy attic. They play, read and watch movies in this room so I made it as kid friendly as possible. Most of everything in this room is Ikea. "

The Bloggers Home Tour is such a fun idea! So nice to see real spaces, the uncontrived nitty gritty so to speak.
I wonder what our spaces would look like if we had all the money in the world, and didn't have to shop on eBay (Craigslist, Etsys) or in flea markets or Ikea, etc.

v.v. - I'm so glad you like it! And although I think it would be great to have all the money in the world to decorate it, sometimes having to be resourceful turns out better results, don't you think?

Tracey - I agree that her place looks really great, its so eclectic and stylish!

peak of chic, kk - I'm sure Kristen is happy to have the approval of you two, you both have such great eyes yourselved!

I love this home! i found your blog from elements of style!

i am a recent college grad who spent ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL her money buying a condo, so furnishing has been, um, a challenge...but this gives me hope with a little digging...a lot of bartering....and some high gloss paint, my condo can look like this! :)

I love this home and am especially in love with the desk in her office. Do you know where it is from? I have been searching for something exactly like it many come close (west elm's parsons, brocade's silhoette even the bungalow 5 jacqui), but this one has all the elements I love in one piece!
Great post! Thank you!
